LAURA LAPPI: Untitled (Study of Charring Wood and Burning Structures II)

LAURA LAPPI
Untitled (Study of Charring Wood and Burning Structures II)
JAN 28 – MAY 13, 2018

Untitled (Study of Charring Wood and Burning Structures II) by the Finnish artist, Laura Lappi was on view January 28, 2018. Her work is eerily beautiful, and recalls both the provisional structures of rural life, as well as the mysterious artifacts of ruined architecture. Lappi works in a wide range of media including installation, sculpture, photography and video. Her work crosses the boundaries between our perception of space and time and between reality and fiction. She is interested in creating bewilderment, uncertainty, unexpected situations and mystery by shifting the form of space and the viewer’s point of view.

Laura Lappi’s work has been exhibited widely in solo and group shows internationally including Trestle Gallery in NY, AC Institute in NY, Knockdown Center in NY, StarrSpace Gallery in NY, Gramercy Gallery in NY, Riihimäki Art Museum in Finland, Gallery Uusi Kipinä in Lahti, Finland; Gallery Titanik in Turku, Finland; Galleri Vest in Reykjavik, Iceland; SÍM Gallery in Reykjavik, Iceland; Kunstpodium T in Tilburg, The Netherlands; Twente Biennale in Enschede, The Netherlands; Re:Rotterdam International Art Fair in Rotterdam, The Netherlands; Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm, Sweden; Green Papaya Art Projects in Manila, Philippines; Museum Hilversum in Hilversum, The Netherlands and Museum De Pont in Tilburg, The Netherlands. Laura Lappi lives and works in Queens, New York and Asikkala, Finland.
